Executive Director Jim Pasco:
• Met with Brooke L. Rollins, Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental and Technology Initiatives in the Office of American Innovation, and Jennifer S. Korn, Special Assistant to the President, regarding prison and sentencing reform;
• Met with John J. Manfreda, Administrator of the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, regarding interstate cigarette smuggling enforcement;
• Had discussions with Steven H. Cook, Associate Deputy Attorney General, regarding upcoming FOP events;
• Had discussions with Thomas E. Brandon, Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), regarding new firearms initiatives.
Staff in the National Legislative Office participated in a conference call with White House staff regarding the nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to be the next Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
National Vice President Jay McDonald and Legislative Liaison Michael Martin attended a White House event at the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for the release of a video entitled: “Fentanyl Safety Recommendations for First Responders.” National Vice President McDonald participated in a panel discussion after remarks by Deputy U.S. Attorney General Rod J. Legislative Liaison Scott Marks represented the FOP at an open house hosted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which featured a demonstration of the equipment and tactics used by ATF.

The U.S. House of Representatives remained in recess this week. The United States Senate was in session for half of the week.
